To Infinity and Beyond: The Infinity Reference Series Subwoofers

Beyond the Infinity car audio brand lies a revolutionary innovation in the field of the automotive audio system. Throughout the years, the brand exhibits impressive quality and performance wherein such systems are carefully engineered with powerful and remarkable technologies.

The Infinity Reference Series, particularly the subwoofers, also acquire such innovative technologies for more accurate, upbeat and powerful sound and hence, make your listening experience smooth and seamless.

Because of the consistency of their technology and superior quality, Infinity is marked as one of the tops and trusted brands on the market. What are these technologies the company boasts about, then?

  • CMMD or Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragms
  • Due to this technology, Infinity audio systems feature nothing but pure sound. The major construction consists of an aluminum driver between ceramic layers which make no unwanted coloration. The cones are impressively lightweight that pick up the subtle detail.

  • MMD or Metal Matrix Diaphragms
  • The Metal Matrix Diaphragms keep the sound loud and accurate. The anodized sides of the aluminum core result into a pure and truthful sound.

  • Waveguide Tweeters
  • It expands the sonic sweet spot of their audio systems where on-and-off-axis high-frequency response is highly enhanced.

  • Slipstream Tuned Parts
  • This field uses a patented technology that improves the bass production and performance. It reduces the noise and hence delivers precise and powerful bass.

  • Passive Radiators
  • This technology increases the low-frequency response thus incorporates a large system’s deep and smooth performance to a smaller audio system. Even the ones with smaller systems can deliver same sound production as the larger systems.

  • Digital Amplification
  • The Digital Amplification replaces the traditional analogs. It uses lower consumptions without compromising the performance as it uses less heat, less space and picks up less noise.

  • Low Resonance Enclosures
  • This technology also guarantees natural sound and minimizes unwanted background noise.

Determining the technology behind the Infinity brand ensures that each and every audio system, particularly the subwoofers, under the Reference series are nothing but of excellent quality.

Infinity Reference 1262w: Features and Benefits

Want to know how the performance goes? Let’s take a closer look at the Infinity Reference 1262w subwoofers and how each and every detail sums up a best-selling subwoofer!

The Infinity Reference 1262w is a 12-inch subwoofer which makes it one of the most common sizes on the market. Aside from its size, the 12-inch subwoofer has its own advantages in sound quality in relation to bass response, clarity and accuracy. Hence, this 12-inch subwoofer from Infinity Reference series has become one of the favorites!

Voice Coil

These subwoofers are equipped with dual 4-ohms voice coils. The wiring options are more flexible which makes it much easier to set up. With such feature, I would say the installation is pretty easy!

The peak handling power of these subwoofers is up to 1200 watts which define the amount of power that handles the short bursts. I actually thought that the 1200 watts was a bit far-fetched and really seemed impossible for a pair of subs to deliver clean bass. But it was dope! I have and did push these hard up to 1200 watts and the bass was superb! Very clean, deep and a total beast!

But frankly, even at 200W or 300W RMS, you can already have that solid and very pleasing performance from these subs.

The total sensitivity rating of the Infinity Reference 1262w subwoofers is 93db. Generally, the average and recommended sensitivity rating for subwoofers should be between 80 to 100 dB. Thus, 93db is a highly commendable rating for subwoofers and guarantees solid and smooth performance without consuming too much power.

Having these Infinity subwoofers tested, you’ll actually get a little bit more out of these subs! Even at a power of 200 watts, they are sensitive enough to rattle my mirrors and vibrate the seats in the car more particularly when I play hip-hop or heavy bass music. Whether you turn it up or down, they won’t disappoint you.

Sound Quality

The range and the capacity of the sound these subwoofers deliver are much more than what most subs can offer. One of the bests so far. I’ve tested them on different music genres and you could actually feel the beat and bass kick right in. The drums and bass lines are punchy, tight and accurate.

These subwoofers from Infinity have done its job so well. If you want to get some upgrades or you want to replace your audio system with a deeper, tighter and harder bass, better give this one a shot. You’ll definitely get more than just a bass but high-quality audio system.

You won’t have to spend much to have your very own Infinity Reference 1262w 12-inch subwoofers. I didn’t think these are too costly though not extremely cheap. It excels in its overall performance - the material and sound quality – without requiring you to spend much more than your budget.

Some may get a chance to get these on bargain through seasonal sales and promo. Just make sure to keep yourself updated from these promos and you can have these subwoofers at a very low price!

The Drawbacks

I didn’t have many issues about these subwoofers. They really work great. They do. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. I guess the only issue I found about these subs is the life span or longevity.

I am not sure if other users have had it for more than a year but I’ve had my working for less than a year. I didn’t mean about them stopped working but how the quality could deteriorate over time. They are still working but not as good as they were brand new. Nevertheless, they are great in performance, in money, time and effort.

To avoid any issues with your product in the long run, you’ve got to know first how to choose the best subwoofer for your vehicle. You can read our guideline about it.

Who is it for?

If you are a beginner who wants to set up subwoofers for the first time, these could be your first step. These 12-inch subwoofers are also recommended to bass heads and budget audiophiles. You can’t go wrong!

Infinity Reference 1262w Subwoofer Reviews: What the Users Say

There have been a lot of reviews regarding its performance. Though reviewing all the feedbacks, most users were highly satisfied with its overall quality. Most pertain to the bass response which is nothing like any other. It is deep, clean and hard. The sound quality’s accurate and pure as well.

On the other, some users still expressed their disappointment. Well, not everyone can be pleased by its quality and performance. Most of them voiced out one major issue – the longevity of its service. Just what I have mentioned, it excels greatly on its prime purpose but they wear out over a short period of time.

Some also complained how their subs blew out or burnt when they pushed it over 600W or 800W RMS. It can actually happen due to loose connections in the circuits, power mismatch or loose connections from the wire connections to the amplifier and voice coil. Hence, it is always best to have these installed by professionals or you can follow our step-by-step guideline how to set up a subwoofer like a pro.

The subwoofer itself can also be the problem. If this is the case, Infinity offers a warranty and service for all the defective materials and workmanship, unless they are damaged by misuse, accident or product modification and repair by unauthorized Infinity service.
